Signs and Symptoms of Type 2 Diabetes

Individuals can experience different signs and symptoms of diabetes, and sometimes there may be no signs making this type of diabetes hard to detect.

Some of the signs commonly experienced include:
• Frequent urination
• Excessive thirst
• Increased hunger
• Weight change (gain or loss)
• Tiredness (extreme lack of energy)
• Lack of interest and concentration
• A tingling sensation or numbness in the hands or feet
• Blurred vision
• Frequent or recurring infections
• Slow-healing wounds
• Vomiting and stomach pain (often mistaken as the flu)

If you have any of these symptoms, it is important to contact your health-care provider right away. Even if you don’t have symptoms, if you are 40 or older, you should still get checked.

Speak to one of our Scarborough Family Doctors about your symptoms and to learn more. The earlier you are diagnosed, the sooner you can take action to stay well – now and in the future.
